Firstly the players have let themselves down and for several of them they have wasted their last chance to make a real mark in an England shirt. for me Ashley Cole, David James and James milner are the only players to have lived up to anything near to their reputations.
That said, Fabio. Where do I start. For £6m per year (that £12m in total for this world cup campaign) I was expecting so much more. He has to go, not becasue he is soley at fault but because for such a ridiculous fee for what is effectively a part time job he should be able at the very least to ientiify our strengths and weakness and build his team and formation accordingly.
WHY - start Upson who bar a couple of desperate blocks had a shocker against Slovenia, positionally he was all over the sho in both games but yesterday the opposition were good enough to take advantage.
WHY - take off Milner whose crosses were pretty much the only thing that caused the Germans any problems (other than set pieces)
WHY - replace Milner with Joe Cole effectively going with no wingers when we needed to strecth the opposition to make some space for a starved front two.
WHY - replace Jermain Defoe (goal scorer) with Emile Heskey when you need two (and then while he was waiting to come on 3 goals). One Heskey isn't the most prolific striker in the world and secondly why put on a 6'2" striker having decided to play with no f**king wingers to cross the ball to him.
WHY - not even give Peter crouch a chance, OK he looks a clumbsy tw4t but he scores goals for England Fact, surely if you have scored two goals in 3 games for the 4th you ight just think, why not give a chance to the bloke who always seens to score, even for just a half.
WHY - Leave Adam Johnson at home. We had not one player in the squad capable of going past a right back and swinging in a cross for the front two to attack.
WHY - take Michael Dawson. Decent centre half but if he intended to play Carragher centre half then surely we didnt need 5 centre backs, take a gamble and pick erm a left f**king winger in the squad.
Sorry Fabio, by no way am I saying you're a sh1t manager but you have failed. We had the easiest quater of the draw ever. If we won the easiest group we've ever had then we had Ghana & Uruguay before the Semi's. Stuart Pearce could have got us to the Semi's and he would have done it for Free, leveing the FA with £12m more to plough into grass roots footy. For that reason please resign now.
PS I fuly expct Fabio to tough it out and wait for the pay off, and rightly so it isn't his fault that the FA were stupid enough to give him 4 more years when we we're struggling in the warm up games. But if he has any class he should just say sorry lads, I've underachieved if you want me out say now and I'll walk.
