I can't beleive that Gillet and Hicks didn't put a clause in his contract that stated if we failed to qualify for Champions League he is sacked without a huge pay-off!
Surely they would have been well within their rights and if he wasn't prepared to sign such a contract then it would have meant he didn't have conviction in his words.
I for one am glad he has gone as he had clearly overstayed his welcome, plus I think next season is a good opportunity for Liverpool if we get the right man as we can focus solely on the Premiership. The only problem is with so many quality clubs now, it is going to be a difficult task for whoever wins the premier league.
...I think a lot of Liverpool just romanticise about our European cup win. Its like a relationship thats gone stale, the split up was inevitable but they will always have Istanbul!
